How about this.  Forget price, # of {chips,cards,transistors} per CPU, or
anything else.  The ultimate indicator is load average :) :) :)

Microcomputer:	Average <= 1.0
Minicomputer:	Average <= 4.0
Supermini:	Average <= 20.0
Mainframe:	Average...  Well, you get the idea :)
