I've said this privately...  what the heck, I'll say it in
public 8-).  The Japanese blew most of their credibility in
this field with the Fifth Generation campaign; most of us took
that very seriously and then found very little significant in
it.  TRON seems to be much the same -- we hear lots of vague
hints of greatness and then see nothing much of worth.  There
is also the fact that US participation isn't welcome in the
developement phase....
