I, for one, have been interested in what was happening with this effort,
especially BTRON because of my background in designing computer-human
interfaces for large-scale (near-) real-time systems.  But, other than the
minimal articles that you've mentioned, I've seen very little in the way of
papers presented or short news articles in the appropriate trade press.
I've seen little in the way of announcing the means for participation or
obtaining these "standards" that were mentioned.  This is often true of many
standards efforts, especially volunteer efforts, but until people find out
more about the efforts, interest will continue to be low, I would expect.

In many ways, this is the classical chicken and egg technology transfer
problem.
