Well if you have to wait more than 5 seconds, there is a problem and the RDBMS is searching the whole DB. No one will ever wait 5 MINUTES (or shouldn't). Our Sun takes <>30 seconds to run all 60K records and only a few seconds to extract ??? records if the optomizer (sp?) is not screwed up. Dave
