We plan to use it in a student environment for teaching students about database concepts. We will not have a 'real' data base administrator nor any production databases on this system. We will have lots of possibly hostle users interested in sabotaging others' files. When we installed Ingres, all the datbase files were in directories that were public write. I played around with using the set groupid bit in createdb, but it couldn't create a directory and createdb didn't work. We also will have to add and delete hoards of users every semester. I would like to know if there anyone out there with experience using Igres in a student environment. Thanks in advance, -- _ _ Ms. Pat Coffey |_) (_ San Diego State University |
