V.29 is a standard that describes signalling methods for 9600 bps leased line synchronous modems. It is full duplex over a 4-wire leased line, half duplex of a 2-wire or dial-up connection. V.29 modems typically offer a fallback to 4800 and/or 2400 bps rates, a low speed reverse channel and perhaps a dial line fallback capability.
