I have just obtained a copy of the Minix sources from the local textbook publisher's bookstore (McG-H). They are for Minix 1.3 (640K PC version). I also have just obtained a news feed for my systems here at work, and am just joining the comp.os.minix newsgroup. After reading several days of postings, I see that 1.4 is available for some systems. Is it available for the PC? If so, could some kind soul e-mail me information on how to obtain the appropriate patches to upgrade my system to 1.4? Also, are the patches applied in like manner to 'official' news and rn patches? Or are we stuck applying them by hand? Now for the bug (and it is possible that this was fixed in 1.4 - or that it only exists on my machine (gaak!)). It seems that if I 'cat' a file to my printer (an Epson RX-80), I loose the first character of each line. On the other hand, if I cat it to the screen, everything is there. This points to the line printer driver, but I have not been able to find anything wrong in it. Also, if I use lpr to print the file, each buffer seems to dump out on one line. I only get a line feed after each full buffer - intermediate ones seem to get eaten. Again, if I redirect to the screen, everything seems to work just fine. Anyone got any ideas? The current state of affairs makes it awfully hard to print out the documentation and listings!!!
