I am a professional programmer (I prefer to program in C in a Unix environment), amateur musician (interested in MIDI) and video game junkie. My wife is a writer who plans on using the machine for word processing (if she can ever get it away from me 8-) ). I am debating between an A2000, an A2000HD and an A2500. Could some of you kind folks EMAIL me some info on: -- the pros and cons of these three machines -- the compatability of software given all the different Amiga systems running around (68000, 68010, 68020) -- what flavor of Unix is available on the A2500 ? -- will Unix be available on non A2500's? -- what is the Amiga's native operating system like ? -- C compilers for the Amiga -- word processors for the Amiga -- printers for the Amiga -- hard disks for the Amiga Prices for the above would also be helpful. Note: I live in San Diego, so any advice on favored vendors in the area would be appreciated. Thanks for your help, Dave Ewing ewing@se-sd.sandiego.ncr.com
