I always read about somebody on the net who claim that they n e v e r had a problem with el-cheapo disks, and yet when I try one -- or those that don't know better try one -- disaster city. On more than one occasion at the end of semester I have to go in with heavy tools on some poor (often literally) student's flimsy disk (some of them with a brand-name like Ve**a**m) to extract a control-code infested ASCII file of the paper they've been working feverishly on for the last 18 hours because their machine gags on the disk. Granted, Joe does say "fewer failures" but I fail to see how. Maybe he was just born lucky. :-) Flip side, joe piazza --- "Where's my other sock?" A. Einstein CS Dept.
