I'd dearly love to have the ability to reference multiple-column tables with the @LOOKUP function in the SpreadSheet. To refresh, I'll give an example: @LOOKUP(N15,X40..X45) The value of N15 is 3, and the others are as follows: X Y 40 1 -5 41 2 0 42 3 5 43 4 10 44 5 15 45 6 50 Using these values, the function would return 5. What I'd like to see is a function that looks like this: @LOOKUP(value1,value2,range) Where value1 specifies the vertical and value2 the horizontal reference points on the table indicated by range. For example: @LOOKUP(E11,Y45,M10..M14) E11=2, Y45=4 M N O P Q 10 1 -5 10 5 0 11 2 0 20 10 -10 12 3 5 30 15 -20 13 4 10 40 20 -30 14 5 15 50 25 -40 This function would return a value of -10; @LOOKUP(4,2,M10..M14) would return the number 40. A POSSIBLE PROBLEM: Under the current @LOOKUP function, the range can be referenced to either a row or column section. This may not be possible when passing two variables with this new version of @LOOKUP. Have you got all that? Good. Now, in ADDITION to the ability to reference multiple-column tables, I'd like to be able to return string values as well. Perhaps you could control how many cells of text to return, regardless of what is in them. If there is a TimeOut function or doo-dad that allows you to do this, please let me know. I don't have any of the TO stuff, but if you can do multiple- column table lookups with one of BB's utilities, you've got a new customer. One last item: the ability to enter longer functions--longer than the 80 or so characters allowed right now. I've got some @IF expressions that won't fit into this space. > Joe Walters att!ihlpf!bird > IHP 1F-240 (312) 713-5356 ______________________________________________________________________________ /> The Broken Blade Aragorn III (Michael Owen) /< ________ ______________ aragorn@blake.acs.washington.edu C=====[*>_______/|______________> Starfleet HQ: (206) 783-5589 \< 3/12/24 8N1 24 hrs - A ModemWorks BBS _______\>_____"Ai na vedui!"__________________________________________________
