HELP!

I am trying to write VAX Pascal routines that can be called from VAX (brrr)
BASIC.  The routines have to use string parameters.  I tried reading proper
manuals, both on BASIC and on Pascal.  I can use the Pascal modules from
Pascal, but nor from BASIC.  I get access violation if I try.  Linker does not
detects any problems, neither do the compilers.  Any help would be _most_
welcomed and appreciated!
