My office purchased an Irwin Magnetics 20 MB internal backup tape system, Model 125, configuration AK. It came with very good software and great software documentation and absolutely NO hardware documentation...not even a word about the jumpers on the thing let alone how to set up the rest of a computer to accommodate it. I don't even know if it's supposed to look like a floppy or a fixed. It doesn't seem to need any special drivers, though. My disk controller has plugs for two hard disks, two floppies, and a connector on the back for an exterior tape backup unit (which is currently connected and operating). If this new one will work I'll disconnect the old one. Does anyone have any idea how to hook this up? When I took my best guess the new software tried to run the old tape unit, so I guess a serious attempt to make the new unit work will entail first removing the old one. But I still need to know where to plug it in and how to set jumpers. There wasn't even a phone number to call in case of trouble! The computer is a Z-248. -J. M. Desmond desmond@nosc.mil
