I've heard rumors that appletalk is required on the MAC side and that this precludes an A/B switch since the DIN-8? connector is not really running RS232. In other words, as I understand it, there is onboard protocol handling inside the laserwriter if you come in on the DIN connector. Dip switches can bypass this if you come in on the RS232 port. The idea of powering down, flipping dip switches and powering up again doesn't appeal to our hardware person. Is there a better way? (I had hoped for a simple A/B switch--are my hopes niavely dashed?) -- John Campbell ...!arizona!naucse!jdc CAMPBELL@NAUVAX.bitnet unix? Sure send me a dozen, all different colors.
