Howdy.  I'm not a comp.sys.mac regular, so the usual apologies for not
knowing whether this has been discussed before and so on.  I'm a sort of
"resource manager" for my department, and we have the usual divisions over
workstations versus Macs, etc., and we're not sufficiently workstationized
yet so numerous people are still on terminals.  (Gawd--how backward!)
Anywho, we recently acquired a bunch of Mac SE's for the Mac-inclined, and
I'm now trying to wrench their terminals away from them to give to other
people.  Several of these persons are nervous about potential problems
in using their Mac as a terminal (hey, I've tried using VMS' EDT at home
on a skinny Mac, its not a pretty sight).

A colleague who frequents this group steered me to article 33592, which is
a summary of responses about Mac terminal emulators.  None of them specifically
mentioned the extended keyboard, and how well correlated the emulators are
with actual terminals.  If anyone out there has an extended keyboard, and
is familiar with either the vt100, wyse 85, or visual 24x type keyboards,
I would appreciate greatly any experiences you could relate to me about
whether the keys on one (terminal) map fairly well to keys on the other (Mac).
The terminals would be speaking to a sun network, and we have particular
concerns about packages like emacs and how terminal-like its operation is
from the Mac.  (So if you've used emacs from one of these things, I'm really
interested in hearing from you!)
