Apple *is* a software company. There is nothing particularly interesting about their hardware, it is their system software that is valuable. The clever thing about how they package their software is that they use a hardware key for copy protection--the computer and its ROMs--and know one seems to notice it. They also sell different versions of the hardware key so the user can get more out of the software by buying an expensive key (a Macintosh IIx) or less out of the software by buying an inexpensive key (the Macintosh Plus). I personally wish Apple would get back *into* the hardware business. Kent Borg kent@lloyd.uucp or ...!husc6!lloyd!kent
