RE: the history - more problem:  I'm running SunOS 4.0.1 on a Sun 3/50 with
8MB of memory, using bash as my default shell (it's terrific!  Seems very
clear and well-written.  Thanks for making my life that much easier!).  The
problem I described is repeatable (by me).  I've used the default values for
everything (i.e., default bash configuration).
