Smith (the incomplete "Venus Equalateral" was missing one short story that is available in Doubledays "Treasury of Science Fiction"... Well this book has a wonderful discussion of the effects on society of a device that can make a copy of any material object. The stories were written before the invention of the transistor (!!!) but given a few of the premises, its a reasonable projection. Reccomended reading for those who wonder what nanomachine replicators are going to do to our society! Mike Higgins "Never trust a machine ...ucbvax!cogsci!well!fico2!everexn!mike you can't program"
