Using lp(r) with terminal server Message-ID: <2108@holos0.UUCP> Date: 26 Jun 89 19:44:23 GMT Reply-To: wdh@holos0.UUCP (Weaver Hickerson) Distribution: na Organization: Holos Software, Atlanta Lines: 29 Anyone have any experience using a serial printer connected to one of the serial ports on a terminal server. The hardware is an RT with a Micom (Racal) Interlan terminal server. I would like to print on a printer connected to the terminal server. ____Ethernet connection ------------- / | | | Terminal server (provides 8 ports) | RT | | +---------+ | |-----| |=--PC | | | |=--PC | | | |=--PC | | | |=----- PRINTER_SOMEWHERE_ELSE | | | |= | | | |= | | | |= | | | |= +-----------+ +---------+ SUMMARY: Would like to be able to say "lpr -p07 file" or "lp -drprinter file" and have the file printed on PRINTER_SOMEWHERE_ELSE. (Logically re-route all requests for some arbitrary name to a server port) Can this be set up under TCP-IP, lpadmin, etc on the RT?? Any info would be MUCH appreciated!! C'mon you gurus. Plese E-Mail unless you would just rather post. Thanks... -- -Weaver Hickerson Voice (404) 496-1358 : holos0!wdh@gatech.edu Holos Software o 3469 Lawrenceville Highway o Tucker, Ga 30084
