When the modem is sharing the line with a phone, the modem does not always hang up properly. I do not have the problem if I unplug the phone. Our phone system is an AT&T System 85 with the thin, ultra light (black) AT&T phones that are propped up in back (sorry, I don't recall the model number and don't have any in this building). Since the modem doesn't appear to be using a relay for going on/off hook, I suspect that something just doesn't have enough off resistance to cause an on hook condition when an extention phone is in parallel. I do not have schematics. Does anyone know of a modification I can make to the modem ?
