   I have noticed that there is a delay of a few seconds when view.el
   displays the end (last screen) of a file.  Prior screenfuls update
   readily, but the last one appears to hesitate.  A cursory glance at
   view.el showed nothing obvious.  Any ideas?

In one version of a view.el, when you got to the end of a file it displayed a
message telling what key to use to do something.  Looking up keys is very
expensive.
