Mr. Garson then talks about the SIMTEL archives ...... HOWEVER, I'm gonna throw in my $0.02 worth and say that the best CP/M BBS I've seen is the PICS system. It's written in (Turbo ?) Pascal, and has all the neat features you expect from a BBS.
