The Type-1 query in Z39.50 is nothing more than a straight forward
use of RPN.  The fact that something is recursive does not make it
unimplementable.  And there are indeed several existing
implementations of the Type-1 query.  If you have uncovered a defect
in the description of the Type-1 query, I strongly encourage you
to communicate it, along with any proposed remedy, to the editor
of Z39.50, Mr. Ray Denenberg at the Library of Congress. He can be
