This really belongs in alt.sources.d, but, considering the
last few days ... :-(

whoops 1:  my stdio.h declares the tmpfile() function.  Thus the
compiler did not find the bug.

whoops 2:  little did I know:  fgrep -l <str> <file-list>
does the same job much more nicely.  Thanks for the info
from rsalz and mannnnnnnnnny others.
