I am trying to put up CRISP v.1.9 on a BSD 4.3 system (and if that works, I may try to put it up on VMS also (we are currently running 4.7, but will probably upgrade to 5.x soon)). My current source of confusion involves the machine dependencies. I have unpacked the sources from comp.sources.misc and have looked at CRISP.Inst, the installation script. As far as I can tell, this script would identify my (well, my university's) machine as a Sun3, when it is really a VAX. It would set s-machine to s-bsd, but it would set DESCR to "SunOS 3.x" and m-machine.h to m-sun3os3.h. It seems implausible to me that simply typing %make %sh CRISP.Inst would do the job. What ought I to do. (As is probably obvious, I am not the sysadmin. I am merely a user who would like to get another editor up, preferably one that would run on both the unix system and vms.) If anyone knows what to do or has a suitable .h file to substitute for the sun file, I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance. -- Paul Neubauer neubauer@bsu-cs.bsu.edu neubauer@bsu-cs.UUCP !{iuvax,pur-ee}!bsu-cs!neubauer
