Since the file ended in .Z you must have backed up with the compression on. The compressed file will indeed look like garbage until you decompress it. Find a file without the .Z (I think MRBackup does not compress one-block files). Especially look for a .info, which is usually small. Either that or redo the backup with the compression turned off. -- Darren
