This sounds fair to me. Refer anyone who gives you a hard time to news.announce.newusers, which naturally they should read anyway. You are easily within the limits of acceptable netiquette. Briefly, multiple advertisements are verboten, simple announcements, answers to questions, etc, are fine. Some naive new users become self-appointed censors in the mistaken belief that Usenet must pretend that commercial products do not exist.
