When your disk partition is full and you *have* to get that one last directory into FONTS: before your whizzy application will work, you can put the new directory on another partition and provide a link to it in the FONTS: directory. Poof, instant disk space. There are probably more uses I'm forgetting, but you might be getting the idea that links can be useful. In almost every case you can provide workarounds but none are as quick or elegant as what you achieve with links. ..bob
