I busted my A1000. Ohhh Noooo. Keywords: A1000, busted, dummy Message-ID: <37475@sgi.SGI.COM> Date: 6 Jul 89 03:03:55 GMT Sender: daemon@sgi.SGI.COM Organization: Silicon Graphics, Inc., Mountain View, CA Lines: 23 Now I've done it. I finally got around to attempting the Amazing Computing half megabyte add-on by piggy-backing memory chip onto existing chips. I did the mod and crossed my fingers and it didn't work. Well, I started looking around but couldn't see anything. I turn the Amiga on and the power light blinks five times and the screen is dark, then five seconds later it goes all orange (maybe red, I'm color blind). So I decide to back to sqare zero. I pull out the piggy-backed chips and the rest of the wiring and tie the clipped input of the 74138's back to ground. Now I turn the machine on, light flashes five times and the screen is dark... five or ten seconds and the screen turns green then it reset and starts over. I have only the A1080 and keyboard connected (no 256K expansion). Did I burn up my memory chips? Thanks for any pointers anyone can give me. -- Greg Orsini, contractor at large (408) 476-5292 grego@darkeyes.sgi.com {backbone}!darkeyes.sgi.com!grego
