Are you sure that both ends are properly configured?  Both have the same block
size, special characters (padding, et. al.), and most importantly are
configured for text mode?  Oh yes, forgot to mention, do both use the same
method for checking errors.  MS-Kermit with extended block size supports three
methods for error checking.  If the file is uuencoded, it shouldn't cough that
often because (as you and I both know) for all practical purposes it is tex.
