I have to force the binary mode with the -[bB] switch to either rz or sz. Then all goes fine. ZOO does make smaller archives, but I must agree that we must make certian that the distribution of the ZOO utilities is such that noone will be without it. Let's stick with ARC for now.... On another tack : The netlib archives here at lakesys apparently will not be up again. Thanks to all who contributed and used netlib@lakesys.
