It was my first attempt. B-stat is a full fledged statistics program, including multiple regression Anova, discriminant analysis, factor analysis, non-parametric tests, etc. It has everything usually found in a general stat package, but it has a superior regression component (includes weighted, Huber, ridge, principal components, logit, cook's d, Farrar-Glauber, etc). It also has a nice time series component. The data editor is spreadsheet style, with many powerful data transformation capabilities. The program can import data from lotus wks, ascii, prn, dif and sylk files. The graphics package is the best I have seen on the ST. It really can do most of what Harvard Graphics can do (if you have Gdos - but not required). Many graph types (bar, line, scatter can be mixed and matched, 3-d bar, pies, component pies, hi-low stock graphs, polar graphs, horizontal, opposed bars, floating bars, star, box and whisker, and others I don't remember. Text can be moved with the mouse, and can be of different sizes, vertical or horizontal, arrows can be drawn, line thickness and fill patterns can be varied by variable, etc. In other words, very flexible. Can output .gem files for importation into dtp such as Timeworks dtp or easydraw (text included) or pagestream and calumus (text ignored). The author wants $30 US, and sends a 200 page manual with registration. Currently, program is in uncompiled Gfa 3.0, but it should be compiled soon. It is surprisingly fast. A 1040 holds about 26000 data points, about 100000 in a 2 meg. I have been beta testing it for the author. I wanted a program like this for a long time on the ST. It is available now on genie or compuserve. I would upload it here but I don't know how. I would be willing to mail a disk to someone who would volunteer to upload it to the net.
