I have one of the boards and have had no trouble with it.  I am able
to make backups of all my software without a hitch.  I do have an
AT class machine though.  That may be the trouble you are experiencing.
I also have a 1.44 3 1/2" drive and can read and write MAC disks on
it without any problems also.
