Unless the front surface of the tube is real thick, the scratch will weaken the structure of the tube. If you really can't afford to replace the tube, (maybe you can get a used one?) , there are glass shops that fill in nicks with hard as glass epoxy resin. These guys usually fill in nicks in the front of automobile windshields. If they are extra carefully, they might be able to do the front glass of your monitor.
