Message-ID: <42784@tiger.oxy.edu> Date: 2 Jul 89 22:28:57 GMT Organization: Occidental College, Los Angeles, CA 90041 Lines: 32 left brain: so this is what it's like posting... right brain: shut up and post! I fancy myself a decent programmer on the Mac (I use Think C 3.01 on a Plus) yet I cringe mightily whenever I encounter the file manager. Thus, instead of premature hair "removal," I (oops!) opt to ask the help of others more familiar and/or experienced (this means you!). Specifically, I would like someone to demonstrate (example code is a double-plus good) how to get into a pascal string the full pathname of a file (that was just selected by the user via the SFGetFile procedure). I realize on mega-large volumes this is not a wise method but I would like to know how anyway. BUT since you insist on giving me code that demonstrates a better method (e.g. a file name with a current directory...) in addition to the full pathname method, I won't refuse it... further, I have begun dabbling with coding DA's and if anyone can demonstrate how a DA gets the event record 'twould be much 'ppreciated. Also, (I haven't yet looked into this yet but) when moving my DA's window around the screen other windows don't get updated. I am building the DA and then opening it with SuitCase in the LSC enviornment. Thanks in advance. If possible I prefer personal mail as opposed to general postings (it's a little easier to sift through if you know what I mean...) My ID is Sonenbli@oxy.edu If it is necessary (I don't know the machinations of these EBBoards... squiddleewumpidabut) here is my "Message-ID" <42784@tiger.oxy.edu> Ando Moon. Don't eClipseRgn me! I have plenty of opinions but unfortunately am not associated with anyone who cares!
