I've typed in a program (in Mathematica) and am trying to Debug[] it.

It's been rather enjoyable so far, but I can't interrupt the kernel
when it's running. Control-C and Control-. as well as a host of others
don't seem to work. The mouse can't activate any menus.

How do I get an interrupt to work?

[the sequence "click on Terminal window, 'ps aux', 'kill -9 pid(s)' "
 is just a little ugly.]
