     I am successfully using an AsciiStringWidget under X11r3 on an ibmRT with
     one exception. When I display the AsciiStringWidget on the monochrome apa16
     display screen, the text position marker is viewable. However, when I
     display the AsciiStringWidget on the color megapel display screen, the
     text position marker is not viewable.

     Can someone please elaborate?

Not us; they work just fine here.  If you're running under AOS, have you
tried building a new Xibm from the contrib/ sources on expo.lcs.mit.edu?
