 ------------------------------------------------------------
 X11R3  on HP9000/300 series running 4.3BSD (utah)  with NFS.
 ------------------------------------------------------------
 configuration file:  hp300.macros  
 compiler: gcc-1.35  and gas-1.34

 I built X11R3 without too many problems and 
 "make install"  also ran to completion.  Then I did the following things:
 
  -  linked X to Xhp300 (server)  and setuid  xterm to root. 
  -  created   /usr/new/lib/X11/X0screens  which has
	topcat 0 /dev/grf0
  - created /usr/new/lib/X11/X0devices which has the two lines 
	/dev/hil1
	/dev/locator

 
 However, xinit dies soon after invocation, producing
 the following error message.

	giving up.
	xinit:  Connection refused (errno 61):  unable to connect to X server
 
 A file named X110msgs gets created in /tmp and its contents are:

	start Wed Jun 28 16:22:59 1989
	Getting interface configuration: Can't assign requested address

I tried running the server but it exits immediatley, leaving the above file in /tmp.

What is  happening and  what needs to be done?

I appreciate any help, suggestions, pointers.
