I just read the question again and noticed that you were asking about formatting a forwarded piece of mail, not a reply. My answer is pretty much the same, except you should prepare "mhl.forward" (in your Mail directory) to format the forwarded message; "replcomp" is used strictly for formatting replies. You can also use "-form formfile" either on the command line (you'd have to modify "mh-e.el"), or in your ".mh_profile" (preferred). Alan Stebbens
