Message-ID: <3393@uokmax.UUCP> Date: 23 Jun 89 22:07:24 GMT Reply-To: rmtodd@uokmax.UUCP (Richard Michael Todd) Followup-To: news.admin Organization: evidently very little today.... Lines: 29 As some of you are probably aware by now, about 15 or so newgroup messages accidentally escaped my site, servalan. I've been setting up C news on my site, and created locally (or so I thought) the newsgroups with "inews -C newsgroup -d local". As you all can see, inews cheerfully put "Distribution: local" in the body instead of the header, making a local newgroup global. The messages sent out were for the following newsgroups: rec.music.misc rec.music.folk rec.music.dementia rec.music.cd rec.music.bluenote rec.music.newage rec.music.synth rec.music.gaffa comp.sys.mac comp.unix.aux ok.general ok.announce ok.test ecn.general Kindly ignore the ok.* and ecn.* groups, as most of you shouldn't be getting those groups. Sorry, guys. I really did think this stuff wouldn't go anywhere past my machine. I definitely need to look at the C News "inews" shell script to see what is going on.... -- Richard Todd rmtodd@chinet.chi.il.us or rmtodd@uokmax.ecn.uoknor.edu aka ...!sun!texsun!uokmax!rmtodd
