I don't think you will find it in any history books, but a Japanese sub
shelled the Hanapepe airport in Hanapepe, Kauai, Hawaii shortly after
Pearl Harbor.  No significant damage (there isn't any tower, and the
runway is dirt).

The only reason I know this is my mom is from Hanapepe.
