Working under broad direction from the Director, the successful candidate will select, acquire, install and manage software and databases for computing applications in molecular biology, including such areas as genetic sequence analysis, macromolecular structure, molecular graphics, simulation and statistics. The work will include the preparation of documentation and the development of courses for researchers and students. The person selected will also work with researchers and MBCL staff to develop new applications in support of, and as a participant in, molecular biology research, and will be expected to maintain an awareness of new research requirements and technologies of interest. Applicants should hold an advanced degree in molecular biology, computer science, or a related field, and should have at least two years experience in molecular biology computing. Candidates with bachelor's degrees who can demonstrate extensive relevant experience will also be considered. Applicants should understand molecular biology research strategies, and possess some experience in sequence analysis, scientific programming, molecular graphics, or computational chemistry. Good interpersonal and verbal skills are essential. The salary range for this position will be $39,252-52987.
