As far as I can tell, so would a library routine implementing the same
primitives as the EIS instructions; as such, while it may close some
particular semantic gap (i.e., some piece of the semantic gap between
solid-state physics and your favorite programming language), I don't
know that it closed any very interesting semantic gap....
