I would be very interested in hearing of any research on this topic. Or on CAD/CAM transfer. Also, I would like to collect anecdotes regarding difficulties that native-speakers of languages other than English have had with Geographic Information Systems or CAD systems that were produced by English-speakers. Anecdotes or stories about any difficulties in using computer technology when that technology is transfered across linguistic boundaries also would be appreciated. If you send me something that you would NOT like to be quoted about, please state that in your note. Otherwise, I will assume that any material that I am sent, or that is posted as a followup to this, can be quoted as "personal electronic mail communication", in a paper that we are writing for presentation at a GIS meeting in Merida, Venezuela, in September 1989.
