Hi everybody!

  A friend of mine has lots of scanner-generated images in GEMs .IMG
  file format. He wants to use these images in a text formatter that
  does not understand .IMG files, so he needs to know the file format
  specification so he can write a conversion program.


  If anybody 
  
     * knows the specs for .IMG files, or 
     * has sources of a program that can display (so that I can find
       out about the format by reading the program) or 
     * has a program that converts them into simple Pixmaps or a
       format you have specs of, 
       
  PLEASE drop me a note.

  PS. The scanner can generate other formats too (MSWINDOWS,
      PCPaintbrush,...), but we would like to postprocess the images with 
      GEM-Paint, so the other formats are only second choice.
