Lines: 29 A lot of folks seem to be talking past each other here (sigh). A good point is made that internet domainist fixed routing is permitted by the syntax @fq.domain.name,@fq.domain.name,@fq.domain.name,user@fq.domain.name (or something very much like it). Karl replies this is true, but don't give it to me in the form fq.domain.name!fq.domain.name!fq.domain.name!fq.domain.name!user because it's the wrong syntax. Karl, I'd say if a user pumps a uucp message with the first form, it's never gonna get off the first host. A number of folks have made comments about gateway machines between networks should do appropriate reforming of the addresses. Presumably this would mean an Internet/uucp gateway should reform the address (route) exactly as I have done in the above example? (IDA sendmail can in fact be set up to do this.) If we go back to my old question about my wifes email (her address is user@fake_fqdn), I should be able to do something like @iti.org,@lokkur,user@fake_fqdn ^ ^ ^ | | +-- her wierd but real address | +-- uucp node at my house +-- my gateway system and get good delivery even tho fake_fqdn is not a valid internet address.
