For example, if karl@dinosaur.cis.ohio-state.edu mails to itivax!scs@xyzzy.com, xyzzy deliver to itivax the address, xyzzy!karlWHOOPYdinosaur.cis.ohio-state.edu, and xyzzy will have done its job as a gateway.
