The reason :to set the drive's ID to other-than-zero is to NOT usurp the first 6 or 7 :cylinders for an autoboot partition. With SeriesII 1.06 I just set the flag to SKIP on the SupraFormat screen. Didn't even bother resetting the LUN. Someone told me, though, that the lower LUNs will run more slowly since they are "farther down the road" from the controller. I haven't had a chance to try it out myself, just passing it along. :Thad Floryan [ thad@cup.portal.com (OR) ..!sun!portal!cup.portal.com!thad ] -- Tony Sumrall acs@pccuts.pcc.amdahl.com <=> amdahl!pccuts!acs [ Opinions expressed herein are the author's and should not be construed to reflect the views of Amdahl Corp. ]
