In reading the enhancer docs for 1.3, there is a section on doing
just what you did (I think it's in section 5), namely building an FFS
RAD:.  Should work just as you expect it to.

Maybe what the other person thought was not yet possible is building
a BOOTABLE RAD: with FFS.  This would definitely not work.  Now, as
to whether it will work under 1.4 ... :-)
