Your name appears in the front of the manual as one of the programmers (or was that a close relative? ;-). We got our Pen Pals in the other day - the manual seems well endowed :-), and we managed to get some nice output out of our Star color printer. I did manage to crash it in less than 5 minutes, though it was the kind of thing that could be avoided. We haven't used it extensively yet, so I can't speak from a lot of experience. If there's anything specific you'd like to ask, give it a go and I'll see if I can help.
