Notice how 3d party vendors aren't producing much software (or aren't planning on it in the near future)? They're scared by rumors. If we keep on with negative attitudes, the effect will be negative on on the Apple II family. I don't mean this as a flame, not in the least bit. I'm just expressing my views on the "death of the Apple II" rumor which doesn't seem to want to die itself.
